The United States restricts travelers' entry and cancels visas to stop the coronavirus.
President Donald Trump signed the declaration late Friday, January 31, banning the entry of most tourists from China due to an outbreak of coronavirus. The US also decided to impose mandatory quarantine on US citizens returning from Hubei Province in China, and said they would cancel visa issuance next week at US consulates in China.
The declaration, which entered into force on February 2 at 17:00 EST, prohibits entry into the United States to all foreign nationals who were physically present in China (excluding the territories of Hong Kong and Macau) for 14 days before the date of their entry into the United States.
The Department of Health and Human Services has announced that US citizens returning from Hubei will be quarantined for up to 14 days after arriving in the United States. Those returning from other provinces of mainland China will be subject to additional controls.
The U.S. Embassy and Consulates in China cancel all appointments regarding immigration and non-immigrant visas starting February 3, 2020.
